Franz started the Los Angeles Design + Build Studio in 2007.  Franz brings more than two decades of interdisciplinary experience in biotech, landscape, residential and commercial architectural design, space planning and project management. The scale of his projects span from smaller residential work to biotech work exceeding $500 million dollars and hundreds of thousands of square feet. Photographs of his work have appeared in Sunset Magazine, Pacific Northwest Magazine and Interiors. The Pacific Northwest Competition for Garden Design, sponsored by the Seattle Times and the Seattle Washington Park Arboretum, awarded him Grand Prize for his own garden.

Franz studied Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Interior Architecture at the University of Oregon, graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He practiced at NBBJ Architects before taking leadership roles in planning and capital projects at Immunex and then Amgen, a front-runner in Biotechnology. His corporate experience gives him exceptional design, facilitation, analytical, communication, and project management skills. He also brings a fundamental understanding of the client’s point of view. Franz is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
